Este libro es el segundo de una serie que trata las cadenas musculares y articulares método G.D.S .. Sigue al titulado «Nociones de base» donde se describen los principios generales del método, esenciales para el estudio más profundo de las diferentes cadenas que se desarrollarán en los siguientes. Este estudio ampliamente ilustrado con esquemas y fotos, enfoca la anatomo-fisio-patología de las cadenas de tensión miofascial antero-laterales, cuya actividad resulta de un comportamiento relacional caracterizado por una actitud reservada. En exceso, esta reserva puede transformarse en introversión, el cuerpo se repliega en una actitud de protección. Madame Struyf emplea el término de serie articular para definir el conjunto de huellas musculares específicas y disfuncionamientos osteo-articulares que pueden resultar de la retracción progresiva de estas cadenas. Las tensiones de la pared abdominal alteran las funciones respiratorias y digestivas confirmando la relación con los meridianos energéticos de pulmón y de intestino grueso, teniendo en cuenta el paralelismo con la medicina china. La relación de AL con el elemento metal cuya gama de color, desde el punto de vista energético, va del blanco nacarado al azul, ha determinado la elección del color tanto para los esquemas como para la portada de este libro. El dominio de una cadena provoca la reacción de sus antagonistas. En este caso, las cadenas anteriores señalan su exceso marcando en el cuerpo numerosas huellas específicas, raramente dolorosas pero asociadas a alteraciones viscerales frecuentes (constipación espasmódica, espasmos esfinterianos diversos ... ). Las cadenas postero-laterales, que son las antagonistas directas de la antero-laterales, reaccionan ante el dominio de estas con espasmos musculares bajo diferentes formas y a diferentes niveles de su trayecto (ciatalgia piramidal, periartritis escapulo-humeral, neuralgias, cervicobraquialgias ... ). La lectura y la interpretación precisa de esta serie articular AL, nos permite analizar claramente este juego de acción-reacción entre cadenas antagonistas, para saber que no es conveniente empezar con las estructuras PL reactivas, sino por las causales. El autor está persuadido de que esta serie de libros va a facilitar el trabajo de sus discípulos, pero además sirve de información para quienes no conozcan aún, los aspectos biomecánicos y terapéuticos del método. Rigor biomecánico, relación con el aspecto comportamental del ser humano, paralelismo con la medicina oriental, dirigidos a mejorar la verdadera comprensión de globalidad, caracterizan este trabajo.
